Hair salons and spas throughout Fairfield County are invited to attend the Feb. 8 meeting of the Darien Dynamos chapter of Business Networking International.

At the event, salons and spas will learn to learn how they can generate referrals for new business through BNI.

The event will also feature a brief talk, "Are You Covered? Understanding Your Home and Auto Insurance Needs," given by Charlene Pennella, property and casualty producer at Daigle & Travers Insurance Agency of Darien.

The Darien BNI group meets Tuesdays at 7:15 a.m. at the Darien Community Association, 274 Middlesex Road, Darien. The chapter draws members from businesses serving customers throughout Fairfield County and beyond. For information about BNI, visit www.bnict.com.

To foster business referrals, BNI chapters limit membership to one member for each business category. The Darien chapter is currently interviewing candidates for membership in the hair salon and spa categories.

A member from the hair salon or spa business would participate in regular chapter meetings as well as the group's Health and Wellness Services Sphere, which includes members in geriatric care management, yoga instruction, psychotherapy, health care advocacy, health insurance and tutoring and test preparation.

With nearly 40 members, the Darien Dynamos is one of the fastest growing BNI chapters in Connecticut. During its 2010 inaugural year, the Darien chapter shared 700 referrals and closed 280 new business transactions among its members.
