Walter’s Hot Dogs reportedly is opening in August at Stamford’s Harbor Point district, with the stand tracing its history to 1919 in Mamaroneck, N.Y.
Walter’s is taking a space at Commons Park in Harbor Point previously occupied by Mr. Frosty’s and the Hut, according to CTBites, with plans to remain open year-round. The stand is eyeing an August opening, with the company’s head of business development telling CTBites Walter’s has been offered multiple Stamford locations in the past.
“We get offered all the time to do things, to be a part of things, but all the right pieces needed to come together,” CTBites quoted Gene Baca saying, who heads business development for Walter’s. “A lot of offers seemed attractive, but everything had to feel right. We had to be able to see ourselves in that location, and deliver the same quality, and experience you get at the original Walter’s.”
In addition to its namesake hot dogs, Walter’s sells fries, ice cream and funnel cake among other fare. The Stamford location plans to offer delivery through Uber Eats.
