UPDATE: And the winner is....Archie Moore's!
Fall means football season, and nothing goes better with a great game than a great plate of nachos.
Thrillist recently set out to find the 21 best nachos in the country, and one restaurant in a small Connecticut town landed on the list. Willimantic Brewing Company in Willimantic, CT was praised for its corn tortilla nachos.
The nachos offer "a seriously plentiful portion (have at least four people with you), you'll feast on perfectly layered, sog-proof chips drowning in shredded cheddar and Jack, diced tomatoes, scallions, and jalapeños with picante salsa on the side," Thrillist writes. "You can top all that off with blackened chicken, veggie chili, or pulled pork too (go with that last one). It doesn't hurt that you can accompany this monstrosity with brews off their extensive list, either."
Nuria Ryan, a junior at Eastern Connecticut State University in Willimantic is a big fan of the nachos. "They deserve it," she said of the recognition. "I've had them like 10 times."
What makes them so good? Ryan says it's how they bake the toppings right into the cheese and still keep the chips crispy.
The nachos sound good, but Willimantic is quite a trek just for a taste, so we want to know where you can fund the best nachos right here in southwestern Connecticut.
For this installment of "Best Of," tell us who has the best nachos around.
