Shannon powers Bullard-Havens to victory

BRIDGEPORT -- John Shannon rushed for 151 yards and two scores and also returned an interception 38 yards for a touchdown to power Bullard-Havens to a 42-8 win over Putnam/Tourtellotte/Ellis Tech in the season opener for both schools Saturday.

Jacqua Solomon added 157 yards rushing, including a 36-yard scoring run, while Chris McNamara had a 55-yard interception return for a score and Equan Brooks scored on a 4-yard run.

Defensively, Shannon finished with nine tackles, the interception and a fumble recovery, while Brooks had 11 tackles and a sack and Shaq Rowe 14 tackles and a fumble recovery.
