Seven percent of Darien, or 586 customers of Connecticut Light & Power, still are without power as of 2:45 p.m. today due to the high winds.

At 1 p.m., 10 percent, or 1,822 customers, had no power due to the high winds.

The power outages and road closures caused by the overnight storm of heavy rain and strong winds forced

Darien public schools to open 90 minutes later than usual this morning.

According to the National Weather Service, most of the day will be windy, with a south wind of 21 to 30 mph becoming west in the morning. Winds could gust as high as 55 mph.
