Brasilian Carnival to benefit Darien student scholarships

The Darien Community Association is bringing a Brasilian Carnival! to Darien on Saturday, Feb. 9, at 7 p.m., featuring live music by Brasilian Vibes and performances by Arthur Murray Grand Ballroom of Greenwich.
Additionally, the silent auction items include a cocktail party for 25 provided by Marcia Selden Catering and Events, Royal Afternoon Tea for 20 courtesy of Carolyn's Absolutely Fabulous Events, to a night in the city, shopping sprees, and bottles of wine. The event will also feature a Latin American-inspired cuisine provided by Marcia Selden Catering and Event Planning.

Proceeds from the event benefit scholarships for Darien High School graduates.
CBS Evening News anchor Scott Pelley and his wife, Jane, will serve as hosts and also dance with Grande Ballroom of Greenwich dancers., is the largest fundraiser in the area for scholarships for Darien High School graduates.
"The Samba is a fun and healthful way to celebrate dance in our lives," said Christine Georgopulo, owner of the Arthur Murray Grande Ballroom of Greenwich. "My staff and I are committed to ensuring that everyone at the event enjoys our performance -- and you never know, maybe we will be able to enlist a couple of the guests to join in and dance with us throughout the evening."
In keeping with the Grande Ballroom's tradition of assisting with philanthropic endeavors, it will donate two free dance programs to the event's raffle.
