Virgil Chesser, 32, of 100 Richmond Ave., Norwalk, was arrested March 1 on charges of driving while intoxicated and passing in a no-passing zone.

Chesser was pulled over after a Darien officer observed him pass a vehicle on the Post Road where it is prohibited then drive away at a high rate of speed, according to the report.

The officer stopped Chesser and while speaking with him, he smelled an odor of alcohol, police said. He told police he had been drinking earlier in the evening but had not had anything in the few hours before being stopped, according to the report.

Chesser was administered field sobriety tests, which he failed, police said.

He posted $250 bond and is scheduled in court March 11.
