The Darien Board of Education and Superintendent Stephen Falcone have announced Arlene Gottesman as interim principal for Darien High School on the public schools website. She will replace Dan Haron, who will complete his tenure at Darien High School June 30.
Gottesman most recently worked as the assistant superintendent for curriculum, instruction and technology in Wilton Public Schools until 2011, according to the announcement. She alos held multiple positions in the Norwalk school district, from teaching to administrative. She was also principal at Jonathan Law High School in Milford from 1998 to 2005, principal of Newtown High School from 2005 to 2007 and has served on several boards for sports and charitable organizations.
Jacob Greenwood was also announced as the new assistant principal of Darien High School. Greenwood is currently the science department chairman at Ridgefield High School, where he has spent his entire teaching career, the announcement said. Greenwood began as a biology teacher in Ridgefield and currently teaches advanced placement biology, as well as a college prep course on the subject.
