The Tiny Miracles Foundation, which provides support, programs and services for premature babies and their parents in Fairfield County, will host a special training program for its mentors in Darien next month. The mentors provide direct support to parents who have preemies in the neonatal intensive care units at Stamford, Norwalk, Bridgeport and Danbury hospitals.

This special training, "You Were Once in Their Shoes: How to Translate Your Experience into Effective Peer Mentoring in the NICU," is scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 5, at 9 a.m. at the Darien Library and will be led by a nationally recognized specialist in the field, Dr. Sue Hall. Hall has been a neonatologist for more than 25 years, and previously worked as a master's level social worker with families and children who struggled with physical, emotional and development challenges.

The training session is funded by the March of Dimes.
