Darien churches offer place for grieving, keeping Newtown in their prayers

New Beginnings Community Church in Darien will include all the families of the Newtown tragedy in prayer at its 9 a.m. service Sunday. The church is available to anyone affected by the tragedy. The sanctuary was open Friday, Dec. 14, between 7:30 and 9 p.m. for those who wanted to pray for the Newtown families and the grieving community. The church office can be reached at 203-655-7194 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday.

St. John Parish in Darien offering the following to the community of Newtown: "Our prayers and thoughts are with the families of Newtown. May our Blessed Mother give comfort and consolation to all those affected."

Additionally, a candle was lighted at St. John's for the eternal rest of the souls of each of the victims.
