Darien forecast: Bad weather storming into town

Today's forecast calls for fairly nice daytime weather in southwestern Connecticut, but the outlook overnight and into tomorrow is quite different.
The National Weather Service says daytime skies will be mostly sunny, with the temperature rising to a high in the mid-40s/ There will be a north wind 5 to 8 mph, becoming southeast in the afternoon.
Tonight, however, rain should start falling about 9 p.m., as a patchy fog settles in, the temperature is expected to dip to a low about 40 degrees. It will be breezy, with a southeast wind 8 to 13 mph, increasing to 16 to 21 mph after midnight and gusts as high as 31 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100 percent, the NWS says.
On Friday, stormy conditions prevail with more rain -- and possibly a thunderstorm -- mainly before noon, and the NWS warns that some of the storms could produce gusty winds and heavy rain. Patchy fog will settle over parts of the region before noon, and a chance of showers is possible through the afternoon. The high temperature is will be about 50 degrees, with an east wind 17 to 26 mph, becoming southwest in the afternoon gusting as high as 38 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90 percent.
There remains a chance of rain before midnight Friday, then mixed rain and snow showers through the early-morning hours of Saturday. Low temperature will be about 30 degrees. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.
On Saturday, there is a slight chance of rain and snow showers before noon, then a slight chance of rain later in the day. Skies will be mostly cloudy, with a high temperature in the mid-40s. Nighttime will be partly cloudy, with a low temperature in the upper-20s.
Sunday should be mostly sunny, with a high temperature about 40 degrees, with breezy conditions. Nighttime will be partly cloudy, with a low temperature in the mid-20s.
The outlook for Monday, according to the weather service, is sunny and temperatures in the mid-30s.
