Partly sunny skies are in store today for southwestern Connecticut, according to the National Weather Service, but stormy weather is just over the horizon.

The daytime high temperature today is expected to rise to the mid-70s, with a southeast wind between 8 and 11 mph.

Tonight, the cloud cover thickens as the temperature dips to a low of about 60 degrees. There will be a south wind around 7 mph.

Rain is in the forecast for tomorrow afternoon -- and could be heavy at times -- prompting the NWS to issue a "hazardous weather outlook" for the day. Otherwise, skies will be mostly cloudy with a high temperature near 70 degrees.

Tomorrow night, showers and thunderstorms are also possible, with a low temperature in the low-60s, the NWS says.

On Wednesday, there is a chance of showers, mainly before noon. It will be cloudy and temperatures will rise to the mid-70s. There is also a chance of showers tomorrow night, with a low temperature about 60 degrees.

The outlook for Thursday, the weather service predicts, is mostly cloudy with temperatures in the mid-70s.
