The work week starts on a cooler (even chilly) and clear note -- a trend the National Weather Service predicts will prevail throughout the week.

Under sunny skies, the daytime high temperature today in southwestern Connecticut will rise to the mid-70s, with a northwest wind 8 to 17 mph.

Tonight, the temperature is expected to tumble to the mid-40s, with a north wind 6 to 8 mph.

Tomorrow will also be sunny and temperatures will be in the low-70s. Nighttime will be clear and temperatures will dip to the mid-50s.

Wednesday will be sunny again as the temperature rises to the upper-70s. Wednesday night will be clear with a low temperature in the upper-50s.

Thursday should be another sunny day and temperatures will rise to about 80 degrees. Nighttime will be clear with low temperatures about 60 degrees.

The outlook for Friday, the weather service says, with sunny skies and temperatures about 80 degrees.
