Darien forecast: Cold, with weekend snow on tap

As power restoration efforts continue early this morning in the wake of a strong rain and wind storm overnight Wednesday, southwestern Connecticut today is expected to have mostly sunny but cold weather -- setting the stage for possible light snow over the weekend.

The National Weather Service says that the daytime temperature will rise to a high in the low-30s, with a northwest wind 16 to 20 mph.

Tonight is expected to be partly cloudy, with a low temperature in the upper-teens and a west wind 9 to 17 mph.

Tomorrow, there is a slight chance of light snow after 4 p.m., with a high temperature near 30. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent. There continues to be a chance of light snow tomorrow night, mainly after 7 p.m. as the temperature dips to a low in the low-20s. Odds of precipitation are 50 percent; new snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.

On Sunday, light snow is likely, mainly before 3 p.m. under cloudy skies. The daytime high temperature is expected to be in the mid-30s, with an east wind 5 to 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. Snow remains possible Sunday night, mainly before 9 p.m. as the temperature registers a low of about 20 degrees. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.

Monday should be mostly sunny, with a high temperature in the low-30s. Nighttime is expected to be mostly cloudy, with a low temperature about 20 degrees.

The outlook for Tuesday, according to the weather service, is cloudy and temperatures near 30 degrees.
