Today is expected to be another relatively mild day in southwestern Connecticut, but the National Weather Service warns of high winds tonight and tomorrow.

The daytime high temperature is expected to rise to the mid-40s, with an east 6 to 11 mph in the morning.

However, a mix of rain and snow is possible overnight with the approach of a low-pressure system, triggering an east wind 14 to 22 mph, with gusts as high as 37 mph. Chance of overnight precipitation is 100 percent, the NWS says, but there will be little or no snow accumulation. The temperature will dip to a low in the low-30s.

Rain is expected tomorrow, mainly before 1 p.m., with a high temperature in the low-40s. Periodically high winds will be a factor, clocking in from 16 to 21 mph, and gusts in the mid-30s. Chance of precipitation is 100 percent.

More rain is likely tomorrow night, as the temperature declines to a low in the low-30s. Winds are expected to decline to between 5 to 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent.

On Thursday, there is a chance of showers under cloudy skies, with a high temperature in the mid-40s. Chance of precipitation is 50 percent. Showers are also possible Thursday night, with a low temperature about 30 degrees. Chance of nighttime precipitation is 40 percent.

Friday should be partly sunny, with a high temperature in the mid-40s. Nighttime will be mostly cloudy, with a low temperature around 30 degrees.

The outlook for Saturday, the weather service says, is mostly sunny and temperatures in the 40s.
