Darien man facing controlled substance charge

Scott Waters, 20, of 5 Walmsley Road, Darien, was arrested Wednesday on a charge of one count of sale of a controlled substance, according to police.
During a narcotics surveillance, police received information that Waters had illegally provided prescription narcotics to another subject in the Noroton section of town, according to a release. The Darien Police Selective Enforcement Unit has been investigating the use and illegal sale of prescription narcotics.
Police apprehended Waters on Heights Road and took him into custody at 8:45 p.m., the report stated.
Waters was released on a promise to appear in court April 22.
The investigation is ongoing and additional arrests are expected, police said.
Waters was arrested on a charge of second-degree assault of a juvenile before the 2011 Turkey Bowl. In 2013, he was charged with obtaining drugs illegally, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of less than 4 ounces of marijuana, interfering with an officer, second-degree forgery and possession of a fake ID.
He pleaded not guilty to the 2011 and 2013 charges. The cases against him are pending.
