Darien is among the list of 20 Connecticut towns that contained West Nile-positive mosquitoes, according to a release from the Department of Public Health.
The other towns include Branford, Bridgeport, East Haven, Fairfield, Glastonbury, Greenwich, Groton, Manchester, New Haven, Norwalk, Plainfield, Stafford, Stamford, Stratford, Voluntown, Wallingford, Wallingford, Waterford and Westport.
"Although mosquito populations are declining, we continue to find mosquitoes infected with West Nile and eastern equine encephalitis viruses in several areas of the state," said Theodore G. Andreadis, chief medical entomologist with the Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station, in the release. "This trend is likely to continue through September."
There have only been two reported cases of West Nile Virus this season, according to the DPH: One Statford resident in his 60s and a Stamford resident in her 80s. The DPH said both are recovering.
