The town of Darien will hold its 2015 Household Hazardous Waste Day on June 6, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Noroton Heights Railroad Station.

The disposal is free, but there is a cost to the town per car, so town officials suggest consolidating waste with neighbors, if possible.

The collection is operated by Care Environmental, which reserves the right to refuse unidentified materials and large amounts of hazardous waste. For quantities in excess of 25 gallons or for other questions regarding the collection, call the Department of Public Works at 203-656-7346. The collection is for residents with household hazardous waste only and there will be no commercial vehicles or waste permitted.

There will also be a mercury thermometer trade-in this year while supplies last. Residents who turn in a mercury thermometer will receive a digital replacement.

For a list of what is disposable and what is not, see Page A10.
