Here are a few highlights of the May offerings of seniors programs at Mather Center.

New senior aerobics class begins Monday

Beginning Monday, a new senior aerobics class is being offered. Nutritional health counselor, personal trainer and group fitnesss instructor Lisa Brehi-Robinson will be facilitating the 45-minute class. Chairs, weights, and bands will be incorporated in the class, which will feature exercises done to the music of the '50s and '60s and a guided warm-up and stretching at the end of class. Class is $4.

VNA Lunch and Learn: Adaptive Ideas

On Tuesday at 11 a.m., Ridgefield VNA will share some of the strategies seniors can employ to stay in their homes and continue carrying out their daily tasks safely. Topics discussed will include how adaptive products aid in mobility, vision, clothing, personal hygiene and more. The program includes a complimentary lunch at noon. Registration is required. Space is limited.

On Wednesday at 12:30 p.m., Visiting Nurse and Hospice of Fairfield County will present a program on healthy meal planning for seniors. The program will offer practical suggestions on ways to build a healthier diet and demonstrate how, with some thoughtful planning, seniors can eat healthier and reduce their risk for diseases like diabetes and heart disease. A complimentary lunch will be served at noon, before the program.
