Middlesex Middle School seventh-grade students on the Orange Team recently celebrated "India Day" by exploring different aspects of Indian culture and tradition.

The students rotated through various activity stations throughout their day. At one station, they replicated Indian art patterns, called rangolis, in chalk around the entrance sidewalk of the school. At another, they had intricate henna tattoo designs created on their hands by henna artist Helen Ekladious. Students also practiced yoga and learned to belly dance from a Bollywood dance instructor.

For the grande finale to India Day, the MMS students celebrated the ancient Hindu religious festival of Holi, the festival of colors, to welcome spring.
