After more than six hours of delays, Metro-North is reporting trains are running on or close to schedule.

The cause of the delays was a power failure in Metro-North’s rail yard in New Haven.

First word of the delays came in an 5:58 a.m. advisory, the railroad said “some inbound trains may be combined or canceled.”

About an hour later, the railroads increased the anticipated delays from 30 to 40 minutes.

Shortly after 7:30 a.m., delays were reduced 20 minutes.

Because of low ridership this holiday week, the power outage is not causing a crowded conditions by combining trains.
