Registration begins at noon Monday for the seventh annual Redding Road Race, A Run for the Cows.

The event is organized by John McCleary and hosted by New Pond Farm Education Center. The title sponsor is goneforarun.com .

Runners will be able to participate in the half marathon, seven mile race, or a 5K on May 6. There are also two children’s races that are 1/4 mile and 3/4 miles long.

Those interested in participating are urged to register early, as the race sold out in a matter of hours last year, according to the event’s press release.

The event tends to draw runners from the area, as well as from more than 25 states and 90 Connecticut towns.

Registration can be found on the race website, www.reddingroadrace.com. The event will feature eight aid stations, runner awards and gifts, as well as a post-race gathering at New Pond Farm. Anyone interested in volunteering can contact Ann Taylor at ann@newpondfarm.org for more information.

Families and business can also find information about sponsoring mile markers on the race website. All race proceeds go to support New Pond's hands-on environmental, historical, agricultural, astronomy and arts programs that reach more than 5,000 area students a year.

Additional race details and contact information for Race Director, John McCleary, can be found on the race website.
