Ellen Painter Dollar will present "Medicine, Ethics and Parenting" at Saint Luke's Discovery Hour on Sunday from 9 to 10 a.m. in the parish hall.

Are "designer babies" a real possibility? Dollar will discuss her own experience with a disabling genetic disorder which she wanted to avoid passing on to her children. She will explore the question of how Christians can make sound ethical decisions about reproductive technologies such as in vitro fertilization, pre-embryonic genetic screening and pre-natal diagnosis.

Having spent the past few years asking such questions, Dollar has recently published a book, "No Easy Choice: A story of Disability, Parenthood and Faith in an Age of Advanced Reproduction." She has also written for the American Medical Association, the Osteogenisis Imperfecta Foundation, Christianity Today and The New York Times.

All are welcome.

Saint Luke's is a parish of the Episcopal Church, at 1864 Post Road in Darien at the corner of Rings End Road. Discovery Hour programs take place most Sundays at 9 a.m. in the parish hall on the lower level of the education building.
