BRIDGEPORT — A recount in a close city school board race has been set for 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 15, at the Margaret Morton Government Center, 999 Broad Street.

In Tuesday’s municipal election, Republican Chris Taylor received 15 more votes than on-term incumbent Howard Gardner, a Democrat who ran this time on the Working Families line.

Preliminary machine, absentee ballot and Election Day Registrants counts show Taylor received 1,143 votes to Gardner’s 1,128. The law requires recounts to occur within five business days of the election.

The two candidates were among nine vying for five four-year seats on the school board.
