Darien Children's Library is offering two summer reading options for children: one for pre-readers and one for solo readers, as part of this year's Summer Reading Club, "Lights, Camera, Action!"

Pre-readers aged 5 and under can join the Read-to-Me Club and for every ten books they read with a grown-up they will receive a free book (up to three).

For independent readers, up to age 12, there is the Summer Reading Club. Participants in this program will receive a reading log to record their minutes spent reading over the summer. For every five hours logged, the young readers will earn a raffle ticket for a grand prize raffle at the end of the program. All children who register for either program will receive a brand-new free book.

The library will hold a Summer Reading Kick-Off Concert for ages 2 to 7 on June 19 from 1 to 1:45 p.m. Latin Grammy-nominated musician Mister G will perform.

The library will also hold a "Finale Party on the Red Carpet" for the Summer Reading Club onAugust 17 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. which will include live music, raffle prizes, food, and photo-ops. The winner of the Grand Prize Raffle will be announced.

Registration for the Summer Reading Club opens on June 8. Registration for finale party will begin August 3.
