NEWTOWN, Conn. -- Police are questioning a handcuffed man in connection with the shooting. Witnesses said he was led out of the woods by officers.

The Hartford Courant is reporting that one shooter is dead, and reports of a second shooter are unconfirmed. A Danbury Hospital spokesman says they have three patients from the shooting.

The school shooting appears to be the third in Connecticut history. At Portland Junior High School in 1985 a 13 year-old shot a janitor in the head and took a seventh-grader hostage, according to Wikipedia. A man fatally shot a Wesleyan University bookstore employee in 2009. A 17 year-old girl was stabbed to death at Hebron High School in 1968.
