DARIEN — A car was stolen and another entered within less than a mile of each other after being left unlocked overnight.

On Nov. 5 around 9:30 a.m., police received a report that a black 2015 Mercedes on Sherry Lane had been entered the night before. The glove box and center console were ajar and the contents had been rifled through. The woman said she’d left the car unlocked in front of her garage around 7 p.m. and didn’t hear or see anything suspicious overnight. Nothing was taken from the car and a search of the neighborhood yielded no evidence.

Around 9:45 a.m. and less than a mile away, a resident on Half Mile Road went to his driveway and found his black 2014 Audi Q7 was missing. He said he parked the car in his driveway and left it unlocked with the keys inside around 9:30 p.m. Nov. 4. Police found no evidence on scene or while searching the neighborhood. The car was entered as stolen with the Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles.

Investigation into these incidents is ongoing.
