DARIEN — Police said they responded to a residence on Littlebrook Road after a man returned home to find a drill bit in the lock of his door.
The complainant told police he returned home around 6 p.m. Dec. 16 after a weekend away. He entered his home through the garage door, using a keypad to open it. When he went to go into his house through a door from the garage, he found a small drill bit in the keyhole of the lock. According to police, the door was also slightly ajar.
The homeowner’s girlfriend had been in the house over the weekend and had come in through the door the night before. She told police there had been no drill bit in the door then and the door hadn’t been used again until the homeowner arrived. Police said the girlfriend had not left after arriving the night before at 11 p.m.
According to police, there were several expensive tools and golf clubs in the garage, but no items were taken. Officers searched the area and detectives inspected the scene.
