To the Editor:

With our state’s fiscal woes threatening to significantly reduce educational funding, we need experienced leaders who are dedicated to upholding excellence in Darien’s schools.

Jayme Stevenson and Susan Marks, two women who together have spent over 17 years serving in various volunteer capacities in our schools including co-chair of Royle School PTO, co-president of Darien High School Parents Association, co-chair of the Council for Darien School Parents and co-chair of YES DHS Referendum Committee, are the right people for the job. I served alongside Jayme and Susan in many of these positions and have seen first-hand their dedication to improving our schools and ensuring all children of Darien receive an outstanding education.

Jayme and Susan’s commitment to researching and evaluating every issue has continuously brought forth new ideas, fostered practical solutions and built consensus among constituents with diverse interests. I am confident they are the best choice for Darien. Vote Stevenson-Marks-Koons on Nov. 7.

To the Editor:

It is important to realize that between the “Best for Darien” team of Jayme, Susan and Kip, they have almost 100 years of combined business and community service experience. This experience has been demonstrated repeatedly as our town officials balance the wants and needs of Darien residents with our town’s ability to pay. It will be critical as we face less and less financial support from the state level.

I have worked personally with Jayme and Susan and adjectives that come to mind are thoughtful, intelligent, transparent, collaborative and leaders. They are committed to making life better for all, including seniors, youth and our most vulnerable citizens. We are fortunate that they are willing to continue to serve.

Please join me in voting for Jayme, Susan and Kip on Nov. 7.

To the Editor:

Over the past decade, Darien has made significant investments in its schools and town infrastructure. The excellent results you see all around you are due to our Board of Selectmen and other officials having been good leaders in listening to the taxpayers, and balancing their concerns. As a result, we have great schools and great facilities. The town was smart to have prudently budgeted and taken advantage of record-low interest rates.

Let’s keep this going with our current leadership! We need their experience in dealing with the current challenges created by the state. Join me in voting for what is Best for Darien — the team of Jayme Stevenson, Susan Marks and Kip Koons.

To the Editor:

Despite the Democratic-led state government handing us two of the largest tax increases in Connecticut’s history and leaving us in a current financial crisis, our Republican leadership in Darien — Stevenson, Marks and Koons — has shown consistency and forward thinking by always keeping our budget tight and realistic, which always results in excellent bond ratings for Darien.

In addition, our Republican leadership has initiated cost savings with the installation of the downtown lights, forward thinking with the purchase of the Ox Ridge Hunt Club property and the installation of the stadium lights.

The stability shown by this team will continue to provide for the needs of Darien while the Democratic state government leaves us all in an extremely unsettled environment.
