DARIEN — A Darien teen was charged after he was allegedly found with marijuana and drug paraphernalia in Woodland Park after dark.

On Sept. 20 around 10:30 p.m., an officer saw a black SUV parked in the Middlesex Road entrance to the park. The park closes at dusk, so the officer pulled in to let the driver know. When he did, a man got out of the car through the front driver’s side door and ran into the woods.

The officer checked the car and found a silver canister, a marijuana grinder and a pack of rolling papers. The officer contacted the registered owner of the car who said their teenage son was driving it. The owner called their son who then returned to the car to speak with the officer.

The officer searched the car further and found marijuana in the grinder and canister, as well as a smoking pipe and two electronic cigarettes. The officer released the teen to his parents and referred the case to the youth division.
