Activities planned at Senior Center

The upcoming schedule for the Darien Senior Center, 30 Edgerton St., includes:

Tuesday, Oct. 16, at 12:30 p.m.: Blue Notes, a group of women who volunteer to bring the joy of music to the community as entertainment and therapy. The Blue Notes have been a part of the Darien Community Association since 2004.

Wednesday, Oct. 17, 9:30 a.m.: "A Matter of Balance" workshop presented by Fairfield University School of Nursing students, focusing on fall prevention. Falls are the primary cause of injury in older adults. The workshop will consist of eight weekly two-hour sessions. The program will help participants set goals for increasing physical activity and teach exercises to increase strength and balance.

Thursday, Oct. 18, noon: Oktoberfest! A little bit of Germany comes to the Darien Senior Activities Center. Dressed in authentic German Lederhosen, CT Entertainment will perform several musical features. The program will be presented in a mixture of English and German, with solos on the Swiss alphorn, accordian and cuckoo whistle. A German fare lunch, $4, will be served at noon. Lunch reservations must be made by Wednesday, Oct. 17, by calling 203-656-7455.

Friday, Oct. 19, 11 a.m. to noon: Ask a Lawyer will be available for 15-minute appointments with Nedder and Associates LLC. Attorney Michael Nedder will answer questions regarding power of attorney, living wills, trusts, guardianships, disability planning, IRA custodianships and wills. Tuesday, Oct. 23, 12:30 p.m.: Beyond Books, a Darien Library program, will feature Barbara Monin, who

recently visited Singapore.
