The Fairfield County Community Foundation has awarded a $10,000 grant to Aging in Place+Gallivant. The grant will be used to support the mission of helping Darien senior citizens live independently, comfortably and with dignity in their own homes and the community as long as possible.
"Aging in Place+Gallivant is proud to provide free resources and services to assist the almost 3,000 Darien residents 60 and older to live in their homes and the community as they age," AIP+G Executive Director Gina Blum said. "We thank the Fairfield County Community Foundation for supporting us as a startup nonprofit agency and investing in the future of the people we serve."
Aging in Place+Gallivant provides seniors with information, referrals and advice on vetted service providers; matches volunteers to help them with grocery shopping, home visits, small chores, leaf raking and snow shoveling; organizes social and educational activities in collaboration with other town, county, regional and national agencies; communicates with seniors and caregivers via the Out and About newsletter and monthly e-mail communications; and provides door-to door transportation to any destination in Darien, Norwalk, Stamford and New Canaan.
The Fairfield County Community Foundation promotes the growth of community and regional philanthropy to improve the quality of life throughout Fairfield County. Individuals, families, corporations and organizations can establish charitable funds and contribute to existing funds. The foundation also provides philanthropic advisory services and develops and leads initiatives to tackle critical community issues.
