DARIEN — All three Darien men involved in a serious car accident on Hanson Road earlier this week are expected to survive and fully recover.
On Saturday, Aug. 20 at 9:30 p.m., Darien Police responded to an accident report on Hanson Road, west of Linda Lane. A 21-year-old Darien man operating a 1999 Chevy Blazer drove off the right side of the road, struck a stone wall and collided with a tree. This caused major damage to the right ride of the vehicle and caused the front seat passenger to be ejected. The vehicle then careen across both lanes of Hanson Road before hitting a second tree and coming to a rest.
According to Capt. Don Anderson, the front seat passenger, a second 21-year-old Darien man who was ejected from the vehicle, suffered the most critical injuries. He’s reported to have broken ribs and lacerations and was transported to Stamford Hospital after the accident and placed in the Intensive Care Unit.
Police said the cause of the accident is still under investigation. According to Anderson, the department is still planning on conducting interviews with the parties involved. However, an initial investigation showed that excessive speed was a contributing factor.
