David Arconti Jr. has won his third term representing Danbury in the state House, defeating Republican Veasna Roeun for District 109

Arconti ran on his record of bringing municipal and education funding to Danbury as reasons why he should return to the state capital.

“I believe my message won the day because I do concentrate on local issues in the legislature,” Arconti said.

Roeun, a war veteran whose family immigrated to Danbury in the 1980s from Cambodia, conceded the race, but said that the campaign laid the groundwork for his political future.

“I think it’s good that Danbury got to see who Veasna Roeun is,” he said. “It’s not going to be the last time I get involved with politics.”
