Bethel finance board takes wrong turn

Wow! Now it is really getting bad in Bethel.

When the budget was presented the past two times, I did not like the cuts to the Board of Education budget, but I could have lived with them. I trusted that the BOE would come up with some creative strategies to minimize the impact to programs directly affecting students and teachers.

Now we are entering a whole new arena. The Board of Finance cut $500,000 from the BOE budget and nothing from the town budget. What is the BOF thinking?

I can no longer stand by and be silent when class sizes will increase, sports and music will be cut and jobs will be lost. Is education the only target, and if so, why?

This is not the direction in which the town should be moving. Get out and vote!

Please join me in voting NO, TOO LOW at the next Bethel referendum on June 21.
