Blood donations still urgently needed

The American Red Cross continues to have an urgent need for blood donors of all blood types to give before the Labor Day holiday, even after many more donors stepped up to give following an urgent call issued in late July. Donors with types O negative, B negative and A negative blood are especially needed.

To encourage donations over the Labor Day holiday weekend, all donors who come out to donate blood Aug. 30 through Sept. 1, will receive a Red Cross mason jar tumbler, while supplies last.

Aug. 20, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Knights of Columbus, 507 Shippan Ave., Stamford

Aug. 20, 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Stamford Hospital, 30 Shelburne Road, Stamford

Aug. 23, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., Tully Health Center, 32 Strawberry Hill Court, Stamford

Aug. 25, 12:30 to 5:30 p.m., Westport Police Department, 50 Jesup Road, Westport

Aug. 27 from 1 to 6:30 p.m., Darien Library, 1441 Post Road, Darien

Aug. 27, 12:30 to 6 p.m., Trinity Baptist Church, 300 North Benson Road, Fairfield

Aug. 28, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Fairfield Police Department, 100 Reef Road, Fairfield

Aug. 30, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., St. Cecilia Catholic Church, 1184 Newfield Ave., Stamford

Sept. 4, 1:30 to 6:30 p.m., Belltown Fire Department, 8 Dorlen Road, Stamford
