The Blue Wave Booster Club recently delivered a new high jump pit at Darien High School, and it has been seeing a lot of use so far by both the boys and girls teams.

"A critical component for practice and training, it is an important tool used by athletes on both the winter (indoor) and spring teams," coach Tyson Kaczmarek said.

As an example of its impact, high jumper Nick Lombardo set a new record at the New Haven Invitational last month with a jump of 6 feet, 7 inches. Then he shattered his own school record again in Wilton with a mark of 6 feet, 8 inches.

Formed in 2006, the BWBC raises funds to provide assistance to the Darien High School athletic program, to foster sportsmanship and school spirit among students, parents, teachers and staff, and to develop an interest in and awareness of athletics at DHS within the town community.
