DARIEN — Police responded to a burglary on Long Neck Point after an receiving an alert from an alarm system.

On Oct. 8 at 10:15 a.m., police received the alert from a residence on Long Neck Point. The alarm company had already contacted the homeowner who was out of state and said there should not be anyone at the house.

Officers near the home received the dispatch and headed to the scene. As they approached the house, the officers observed a large framed screen on the ground. They also saw the bottom half of a window had been broken. Upon seeing this, officers believed the burglars might still be inside the residence and called for backup. Several other officers arrived, including the police K-9 unit from New Canaan, and, after surrounding the perimeter, the officers entered the house.

No burglars were found in the home, but officers found signs that they had been in the closet of the upstairs master bedroom and in the office closet on the ground level. Police called detectives to the scene and searched the neighborhood but did not find any suspects. There were no other incidents reported in the area and it is still unknown if anything was taken from the residence.
