Car hits pedestrian, closes West Ave.

Darien Police shut down West Avenue between Noroton Avenue and Edgerton Street after a car hit a pedestrian at about 5:30 this afternoon.

The victim, who police did not identify, was transported to the hospital by ambulance, according to Sgt. William Duignan. The victim's condition is unknown.

Police are investigating the accident, and don't know when the road will reopen to traffic.
