An early morning accident on Tuesday resulted in one vehicle sliding off the I-95 overpass onto Old Kings Highway South.
Charles Douthit, of Trumbull, was driving a 2005 Saturn when his vehicle was struck by a 1995 Honda Civic being driven by Andrey Rojas, of Waterbury, police said.
Both vehicles were traveling south on I-95 around 6:43 a.m. when Rojas sideswiped Douthit's vehicle which forced the vehicle onto the shoulder where it struck some frozen snow that was pushed up against the guardrail, police said. Douthit's vehicle then went airborn before landing 45 feet below I-95 on Old Kings Highway south, police said. Rojas' vehicle also went airborn and landed 30 feet from Douthit's vehicle, police said. Both drivers were transported to Stamford Hospital by Darein EMS for non-life threatening injuries, police said. The accident is still under investigation.
