A 6-year-old boy was left alone in the car while his father went into Walgreens in New Canaan, police said.

Kevin Frisch, 41, of 267 Brookside Road, Darien, was issued a summons for leaving a child unattended while he filled a prescription, according to the report.

Police received a report at 6:45 p.m. Dec. 26 that a child was alone in a vehicle at Walgreens, 36 Pine St. When the officer arrived, he found a boy secured in a car seat inside an unlocked vehicle, police said. The car was running and the headlights were on, according to the report.

Police believe the child was unattended for at least 10 minutes.

When Frisch returned to the car, he was issued a misdemeanor summons for leaving a child under 12 unsupervised in a motor vehicle and a verbal warning for an expired registration.

Frisch is scheduled to appear in court Jan. 7.
