Children's Connection, a program of the Human Services Council, is coordinating the Children's Bank 2010 Holiday Toy Drive. In past years, the Children's Bank has provided gifts to thousands of children involved in the Department of Children and Families system in Darien, Greenwich, New Canaan, Norwalk, Stamford, Westport, Weston and Wilton. Children's Bank also provides gifts to local non-profit agencies working directly with children in need.

Gift drop off is scheduled from Dec. 1 through 10 at 800 Connecticut Ave., Norwalk. To obtain specific gift wishes please contact Kari Pesavento, Director of Children's Connection, 203-849-1111; ext. 3011 or kpesavento@hscct.org.

"The Toy Drive will help put smiles on the faces of many children who won't wake up to a present during the holidays this year. Last year, 3,500 children were given a gift and hopefully enjoyed a glimpse of holiday joy. This was made possible by many good people in our community who helped share in the holiday spirit," Pesavento said.

One million children are reportedly abused and neglected each year in the United States. Children's Connection, a program of the Human Services Council, serves children and families in lower Fairfield County. Its efforts help many families who are confronted with the effects of physical and sexual child abuse. During FY 2009 - 2010, Children's Connection provided support, education and holiday gifts to 4,500 children. Its mission is to create a world where no child is harmed and no family is left without guidance.
