Community movie night set for Darien Playhouse

The annual Community-Wide Movie, benefiting the Darien Social Services holiday gift drive, takes place on Friday, Nov. 30, at the Darien Playhouse.

Sponsored by the selectman's office, the Darien Youth Commission, the Darien Social Services Department, the Depot and the movie theater, this year's film will is "The Rise of the Guardians."

Admission to the movie, which starts at 4 p.m., is free, however, each movie-goer is asked to bring donations, such as a new toy; gift cards to Barnes & Nobles, Walmart, CVS, Walgreen's, Target, Subway, and other local eateries and establishments; and books. All items should be new and unwrapped with a value of at least $10 each.

For tickets, an adult should visit the Darien Youth Commission office in the Town Hall, Room 110, between on Thursday, Nov. 29, and Friday, Nov. 30 until 1 p.m. Tickets are limited. Theater doors will open at 3:30 p.m.

All children must be accompanied by an adult; at least one adult per four children is required. Tickets and gifts are required for adult movie-goers as well.
