A Darien resident reported to police that $733 was stolen from him in a transaction on Craigslist on Thursday, Dec. 27.
Police said the resident saw an advertisement on Craigslist for concert tickets. He contacted the seller, who purported to be "Brad James," and they agreed upon the price of $733, according to police.
Police said the resident went to a Western Union office in Norwalk and wired the money to "James," who was believed to be somewhere in New York City. The money was picked up from a Western Union but the tickets were never received, according to police.
The Western Union fraud section is investigating and a complaint also has been filed with Craigslist, according to police.
