Program aimed at women in transition
"Explore! Programs for Women, a program designed for empty nesters and other women who want to revisit their goals and how they spend their free time, begins at 9 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 13.
The opening session, "Thriving (not just surviving) Through Times of Change," will be led by Maud Purcell, founder of the Life Solution Center of Darien. Purcell is a psychotherapist with a short-term, solution-focused approach. A frequent YWCA parent awareness speaker, she writes regular columns for five local publications, including the Darien News.
Through her 40-minute presentation, Purcell will help women in transition establish a healthy life balance, rediscover who they are, and take a peek at where they might be headed next, all in an informal and supportive environment.
Subsequent sessions will take place monthly on Wednesday from 1 to 2:30 p.m.
The cost is $10 for members and $15 for nonmembers.

For intermediate players, Barrett will lead Supervised Play-Intermediate classes, which focus on how to bid, play and defend. Classes run Monday from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. beginning Sept. 9. The cost is $20 per game.
Those who want a greater challenge can take Duplicate Bridge, led by Gloria Sieron. Classes run Monday from 12:30 to 4 p.m. beginning Sept. 9. The cost is $12 per game. For Duplicate Bridge classes, one of the partners must be a DCA member.
