Hundreds of works of art by local artists will be on display at the 55th annual Art Show and Sale at the Darien Arts Center, opening on Saturday, June 1, and running through June 8 at the DAC Weatherstone Studio behind Town Hall, 2 Renshaw Road.

Hours are noon to 5 p.m. each day.

"We are very excited to open our 55th art show and sale. It is a longstanding tradition at the Darien Arts Center and a favorite event for many local residents," said Amy Allen, executive director of the Darien Arts Center.

"Hundreds look forward to it and will attend to view the creativity of neighbors and friends, and buy new pieces of art for their homes."

Featured artists range from children to accomplished professionals, and the varied works of art, including award-winning pieces, encompass oil, acrylic, watercolor, drawing/pastel, mixed media/printmaking, sculpture and color photography and black and white photography.

Best-in-Show winner at the 2012 show, Sergey Stepanenko, is also currently exhibiting his artwork at the Darien Town Hall. Stepanenko, who won the solo exhibit as part of the top prize at the annual event, will continue to hang his art in the Town Hall through the duration of the 2013 show.
