DARIEN — An unknown amount of cash was taken from the Chase Bank on the Post Road Monday after a man demanded money through a note.

On June 12 around 3:35 p.m., a black man in his late 20s to early 30s, entered the Chase Bank at 454 Post Road. He passed a note demanding money to a female teller, leaving after the employees gave him cash from the teller drawer.

The man did not show a weapon or make any threats to any of the seven employees or the single patron in the bank at the time. There were no injuries from the incident.

Police said the suspect was between 5 feet 9 inches and 6 feet tall. The heavyset man had a beard and wore a dark-colored baseball hat, a dark-colored, oversized, patterned shirt and gray or beige, baggy paints. He was also described as having tribal design tattoos on his left hand and face, but police said the tattoos may have been temporary ones to conceal the suspect’s facial features.

The exact amount of money stolen from the bank is unknown. The robbery remains under investigation.
