Updated 12:44 pm, Thursday, November 17, 2011
The Darien Democratic Town Committee seeks volunteers to serve on the Environmental Protection Commission and the Social Services Commission. Democrats and unaffiliated (independent) voters are invited to apply.
The Environmental Protection Commission is concerned with the protection, preservation and maintenance of natural resources, the prevention of floods and the protection of inland wetlands and watercourses within or bordering the territorial limits of Darien.
Regular meetings of the Environmental Protection Commission generally take place once a month at 7:30 p.m.
The Social Services department is responsible for all public assistance in town. The commission works to identify existing and future needs for social services, prepares a budget and makes recommendations to the Board of Selectmen. The commission generally meets once a month during the evening.
