Darien House team gymnasts compete in qualifying meets

Darien House Team gymnasts competed in meets in Rye, NY and Meriden, CT with the goal of qualifying for upcoming YMCA championship meets.

Level 4 and 5 gymnasts competed at the Rye meet. Lindsey Wallach led the level 4s with a 34.95 all around score, a 9.3 on vault and a 9.15 on floor. Katherine Glassmeyer had the top vault score with 9.35 while Maisie Stewart scored 9.0. Sommer Schmidt and Evelyn Hidy were the top bars performers, scoring 8.5 and 8.2, respectively. Wallach led the beam scoring with an 8.4 followed by Stewart with 8.0.

Several gymnasts performed stellar floor routines, led by Charlotte Getz with a 9.3. Following her were Glassmeyer with 9.25, Schmidt with 9.2, Wallach, Hidy with 9.0 and Emily Wiley with 8.85. Katie Weinberg and Meghan Sisk competed at level 5. Both gymnasts soared on vault with Weinberg scoring 8.7 and Sisk 8.6. Sisk hit her floor routine to earn an 8.95 as did Weinberg with an 8.75.

At the Meriden YMCA meet, level 4 gymnasts were again successful with Lindsay Hall leading the way with a 35.75 all around. Hall's bar routine earned an enormous 9.35. She was followed by Lilah Grant with a 9.1, Kate Reeves with an 8.7 and Maggie Russell with an 8.6. Wallach was the top vaulter with a 9.2 followed by Stewart, Glassmeyer and Grant all scoring 9.0.

Isabelle Seeman and Alison Enters also earned their meet high scores on vault. Megumi Murao, competing in her first meet, was impeccable on beam, earning 9.15. Other top beam scores were earned by Wallach, 8.8, Glassmeyer, 8.9, and Olivia Stemp and Abby Gandini both with 8.75. The Level 4s were again stars on floor, with Hall scoring 9.4, Gandini 9.35, Glassmeyer 9.2, Schmidt 9.15 and Wallach 9.0.

Level 5 gymnasts competing in Meriden were led by Alexa Carrero and Weinberg, both earning 34.15 all around. Carrero also had the top score for the team on beam with a 9.2, followed by Carson Halabi and Charlotte Juan with 8.65 and Kerry McDermott with 8.6. Emma Koerner earned the top vault score with an 8.55. Shining on floor were Weinberg, 9.15, Carrero, 9.1and Halabi with an 8.8.

Level 6 gymnasts were led by Nathalie Bravo with a 34.15 all around. Bravo nailed her beam routine for a 9.4, closely followed by Caitlin Spellman with a 9.0. Floor was a highlight for the Level 6s with Bravo scoring 9.2, Laura Germishuys earning 8.6 and Jennie Spellman 8.3. All of the gymnasts competing in these two meets have qualified for the Southern Leagues Championship meet in March.
