Tickets for the Darien Library's fifth annual Spring Gala, which takes place on Saturday, April 27, go on sale starting on Friday, March 15.

The gala, themed as "Spring Into Reading," will raise funds to expand library resources, including the purchase of new books, eBooks, movies, magazines and books on CD. In addition, donations are also allocated to supporting programs, such as discussion groups and author visits.

Almost 50 volunteers are working on the event, led by co-chairmen Rachel Donovan and Jessica Blouin of Darien. The Doug Allen Band will perform, and cocktails, hors d'oeuvres by Simply Creative Catering and silent and live auctions will be featured at the gala, which will take place at the library, 1441 Post Road.

"It's a beautiful event and a great cause," said Donovan.

Tickets are $130 per person ($100 is tax deductible) and can be purchased at www.darienlibrary.org.
